The birth narrative of Jesus recorded in the gospels of Matthew, Luke and John describe the story through multiple perspectives and emphases. Each of these adds a further dimension to the historic coming of the Christ child. Speaking at the Carol Service of the Methodist Church in Kollupitiya, the FOCUS General Secretary Yohan Abeynaike, outlined three of these emphases (the Word becoming flesh, Immanuel and the sign of the child) and showed how the Christmas narratives continues to offer assurance, promise and hope to the world today.
